It is an unspoken truth that Chinese domestic social media in under the influence of Chinese government censorship. The censorship results in barrier of information accessing and communication including IP blocking and deletion of sensitive words or messages. Our project is designed to quantify and visualize the gap of information shared between mainland China social media and twitter. We picked weibo (微博) as the representative of Chinese social media. We hypothesized that there is a different level of information accessing between messages written in Chinese in weibo and the counterparts in twitter, while we doubt there is difference between content written in English in twitter and weibo.
