The damped-driven oscillator is explored here in the context of a Duffing Oscillator-like cart with 4 springs experiment. The oscillator’s behavior, a mathematical description, and the nature of the damping force on the cart are described. Chaos is observed and described through the use of Poincare plots, simulation modeling, and power spectra, ultimately leading to an understanding of the system as chaotic.
