Basic and Advanced Painting- Students complete a series of projects to develop a respect and attention for the complexity of color, variety of texture, diversity of application, mixing strategies and brush work needed for a successful composition. The goal of this course is not to make perfect paintings, but to build an understanding of paint, process and potential content that could be developed in the years to come.
There is currently a library exhibition of student’s paintings that will coincide with the Verna Miller Case Symposium. This exhibition is a selection of students work from Basic and Advanced Painting class (fall 2018- spring 2019). Students have been encouraged to be deeply inquisitive while developing their subjects through the following aspects: materially, theoretically, historically, culturally and from personal experience.
