While prison sentence lengths should be determined through a judicial process based off of legal factors, in practice, sentence lengths are often determined by demographic and socioeconomic factors that are outside of the defendant’s control. In this study, I attempt to determine the effect that several factors, specifically years of education the convicted person has received, on the sentence length the person receives.
