The purpose of my project is to examine why the field of invasion biology is so contentious and examine the ways in which normative values find their way into biological publications. The field of invasion biology is relatively young in comparison to other fields aligning under the broader range of conservation biology. This semester, I had the opportunity to examine the way in which normative values have manifested in invasive biology. This includes terminology and word choice, militaristic language, and arguments of science denialism among invasion biologists
