In 1845, Michael Faraday discovered that linearly polarized light travelling through a magnetic field experiences a rotation of its plane of polarization. The goal of this experiment was to utilize this effect to transmit music via laser polarization. This involved testing and optimizing several parameters including the material in which the Faraday effect occurs, laser wavelength, and methods for amplification of signals.
